I believe in people keeping as much of their money and generating as much wealth for themselves as possible. Assisting clients with real estate transactions is a great way to generate wealth. That's why when you look at real estate over the past 4 years, home prices have gone up roughly 43% here in Eastern Massachusetts (excluding cape cod). During this time, mortgage rates went up, cost for home maintenance and repairs has gone up, insurance rates have gone up...pretty much everything related to real estate has gone up in cost, INCLUDING THE COST OF PAYING YOUR AGENT! They've had a roughly 43% INCREASE in INCOME, have you gotten a 43% raise at your employment? I didn't think so....The NAR settlement you've heard about in the news is attempting to change that, but that's not till August, and even then, most agents are going to still stick to wanting 2-3% to help you buy or sell a home...Not this agent, I believe in everyone being fairly compensated for their work. I benefited from this crazy market increase in commissions the past 4 years, but it didn't seem right. Insert my $6000.00 flat fee to help you buy or sell a home, which is nearly 100% less than what the agents wanting 2-3% of the purchase price are going to want. When I bought my house in 2020, we paid our agent and their brokerage $10K to sell our house, and $12K to buy the new house. $22K TOTAL! The agent likely only got 70-80% of that, which comes out to roughly $15K. Using that same example, with me and my flat fee, you'd pay $12k TOTAL, nearly half of what I and other people have and continue to pay agents. Ok, it's not THAT much, especially since it's financed in the loan most of the time, but it increases the loan amount that you have to pay back, and if you can save $10K-$12K and receive the same quality service, wouldn't you want to?!
