In spite of there being 2 major universities in Waltham, it does not feel like a college city. Anything you could ever need can be found somewhere in Waltham. Outside Moody st, the city quiets down at night. There are many hotels in Waltham, a direct result of the corporate and university presence. Traditionally, Waltham residents stay in their homes longer than the average homeowner, and/or residents move within Waltham.

There are many youth and adult activities/sports available in Waltham. This website shows the sports offerings, there’s public skating available at the Veterans Ice Rink too. There are outdoor parks and green spaces with trails, most notably Prospect Hill. The recreation dept updates the brochure of offerings by the season here on this website. There are so many activities and events for kids all year long, even indoors at the well maintained library.
