Population
Most would say Walpole is a pretty and welcoming town that has something for everybody. It’s a large town where business, dining, and retail have a large presence. There are some small parks with trails (most notably the Bird Park), and playgrounds to enjoy, but that’s the extent of public green space. Walpole has an appealing small town center that’s very friendly to walkers, but traffic can build up quickly even on low volume days due to the multiple lights and intersections in a small radius. Traditionally, Walpole residents stay in their homes longer than the average.

There is a good amount of undeveloped land in Walpole towards some neighborhoods, which helps give those residents the suburbia/rural feel. Walpole real estate encompasses the whole spectrum, there are affordable areas for around $400k, and there are areas where homes are well over $1 mil. Condos can be had for sub $500k.
Another town that Rt 1 rolls through, the other main arteries are 1A, 27, and Washington St. All 4 do experience decent traffic during the normal commute times, but 1A seems to be fairly busy most days during daylight hours. The town center has a lot of smaller intersections in a small radius, so that leads to some congestion even on quiet days. Rt. 27 and Common St commonly get backed up around the Washington St intersection and going towards Rt. 1. Otherwise, Walpole is traffic free!
Similar to Natick, you don’t have to go far to find dining, and there are many national fast food franchises located in Walpole, albeit mostly along Rt 1. There are some retail and dining establishments that evoke nostalgia in resident and visitors, some being a 2nd or 3rd location in the general area including nearby towns (Conrads, Raven’s Nest, Napper Tandys). 95% of dining and bars are along Rt 1 and 1A.
